The New FLUOVIEW FV3000 addresses modern science’s most difficult challenges

Olympus’ new FLUOVIEW FV3000 confocal laser scanning microscope combines high-performance imaging capabilities with ease of use so researchers can collect relevant imaging data quickly and easily

Designed to meet some of the most difficult challenges in modern science, Olympus is proud to announce the launch of the new FLUOVIEW FV3000. Built for fast, stable and accurate imaging of biological processes within living cells and tissues, the Olympus’ FV3000 offers the flexibility required for live-cell imaging, high-resolution fixed imaging and the temporal resolution required to image dynamic intracellular processes.

Succeeding the well-established FV1200, the FV3000 is controlled via a new, intuitive software interface so even novice users can generate high quality data and images. Meeting today’s application demands the system’s new optical design offers unique macro to micro imaging capabilities with objectives ranging from 1.25X to 150X magnification. This broad magnification range allows a diverse range of biological samples to be imaged at biologically relevant resolutions.

The addition of Olympus' renowned silicon oil-immersion objectives to the FV3000 enables imaging of live specimens over long time periods. The use of Silicon oil immersion allows users to generate bright, high resolution images with less spherical aberration due to the unique refractive index match between silicon and cells immersion media.

The FV3000 is available in two standard configurations firstly a galvanometer only scanner and secondly the FV3000RS with both a resonance scanner and a galvanometer scanner. The addition of a resonance scanner allows imaging of high speed processes up to 438 frames per second.

Time-resolved techniques such as fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM)Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (FCS), or advanced time-resolved Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) analysis are also available by addition of the Picoquant module. The new approach, rapidFLIM for very fast and accurate FLIM imaging is also available.

The Olympus TruSpectral detection system is optimised for maximum efficiency when delivering emission light to detectors. Users have the freedom to select the exact wavelength range they wish to capture in every detection channel at nanometer precision.

FLUOVIEW software has been designed with an intuitive interface that can be tailored to adapt to the way an individual works. Users can create and save workflows and customise the interface’s layout for easy access to commonly used applications. A new system architecture enables researchers to execute an experiment with a variety of observation procedures such as changing the scanning range or laser light midway through an experiment with millisecond precision.

Olympus is currently conducting demonstrations of the FLUOVIEW FV3000 around Australia and New Zealand.
