OLYMPUS 4K Ultra High Definition

The latest edition to the VISERA range, the all new Olympus 4K Ultra High Definition surgical visualisation system is bringing you Big Screen Surgery, giving you the natural immersion of open surgery you need to consistently perform laparoscopy with precision, accuracy and without compromise.

As the newest edition into the VISERA surgical system portfolio, the Olympus 4K Ultra High Definition range delivers images in 4K resolution (4096 x 2180 pixels), providing four times more image information than Full HD

The Olympus 4K Ultra High Definition system is part of our aim to provide surgeons with even better support in their challenging and high-precision work, and to thereby help improve clinical outcomes and the quality of life for patients.  With an increased colour range, particularly picking up more types of red colours, the Olympus 4K image produces more colours than ever before.

Olympus 4K Ultra High Definition has been developed by Sony Olympus Medical Solutions, a medical joint venture between Olympus and Sony Corporation, which was founded in 2013.

Ultra High Definition (UHD)

The Sony Exmor R™ CMOS native 4K image sensor in the camera head of the Olympus 4K Ultra High Definition system produces detailed, low-noise images. The one-touch autofocus feature delivers sharp pictures on the surgeon’s screen at the push of a button. The system incorporates an ultra telescope with an extra-low dispersion lens that reduces chromatic aberration caused by light dispersion at the visible edge. This ensures that the system will consistently provide incredibly sharp depictions in true colors, even on the fringes of the visible edge.

Increased Colour Spectrum

Olympus 4K Ultra High Definition systems provide surgeons with finer color calibration possibilities by broadening the range of color reproduction compared by a factor of 64 to predecessor models featuring Full HD technology. An enlarged color spectrum encompassing around one billion colors is now reality. The system improves the visibility of edges and fine details of delicate tissue, such as blood and lymphatic vessels and nerves. Above all, the richer reproduction of reds assists surgeons in ensuring that incisions are even more accurate.

Magnified Visualisation

A 55-inch screen provides a truly immersive environment and displays the razor-sharp images being transmitted from the endoscope in 4K Ultra HD brilliance. Sony’s OptiContrast™ Panel guarantees that images impress with high-contrast and minimal glare. The magnified visualization function allows the surgeon to use the telescope fitted to the Olympus 4K system even at some distance from the part of the body being operated on, while still delivering high-resolution sharp images. The remote position of the telescope when used with Olympus 4K also prevents collisions with other handheld instruments.
